Live in a "Heat Included" building?
Boiler FAQ
Do you live in a “heat included” building? If so, read below for some commonly asked questions.
Q: When will the heat be turned on?
A: Depending on the weather, the boiler is turned on once the forecast stabilizes. Turning the boiler on too early will result in unbearably warm temperatures during the daytime.
Q: The forecast shows unusually cold temperatures this weekend? Can you turn the heat on for the weekend?
A: Heating through a boiler system is much more complex than forced air heating. Once a boiler is turned on, it isn’t turned off until the end of the season.
Q: Can I control the temperature in my apartment?
A: While your thermostat in your apartment may give you the current temperature, adjusting it will have little to no effect on the boiler heat. Depending on the building, some apartments allow residents to turn off the vents altogether, while some buildings do not. Contact the office for specifics. Maintenance should be able to tell you if you can adjust the temperature or not.
